GEM and Indonesia Co-Growth through Industry, Technology, and Culture Integration Investment : Investment Exchange Forum Successfully Held Between GEM and the Indonesian Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry

On February 23, 2025, the investment exchange forum between GEM and the Indonesian Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry was successfully held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Attendees included Mr. Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Investment and Downstream of Indonesia; Mr. Pak BOY, Chairman of the China Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KIKC) as well as ADARO Group; and Professor Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Group.

Chairman Xu Kaihua firstly expressed sincere gratitude to Minister Rosan Roeslani for his attendance. He showcased the achievements of GEM’s PT. QMB New Energy Nickel Resources Project in Indonesia, introduced the design philosophy and blueprint of the world’s first green nickel resource industrial park—the Indonesia Sambalagi Industrial Park (ISIP)—and outlined plans for nickel smelting and downstream new energy industry projects. He also highlighted collaborative progress with UNU Yogyakarta in advancing higher education and shared insights into opportunities and challenges for sustainable nickel resource development in Indonesia. Additionally, Chairman Xu invited Minister Rosan Roeslani to virtually tour GEM’s advanced facilities in urban mining and new energy material production, including the PT. QMB lateritic nickel ore hydrometallurgical project, the Nickel Resources Museum, and the GEM-ITB-CSU Joint Research Laboratory.

Following Chairman Xu’s presentation, Minister Rosan Roeslani remarked that GEM’s substantial investments in innovation left a profound impression. He expressed admiration for GEM’s technological breakthroughs in lateritic nickel ore hydrometallurgy and resource recycling, as well as high recognition for its achievements in promoting Sino-Indonesian technological and cultural exchanges. The Minister emphasized the critical significance of building green nickel resource industrial parks in Indonesia and expressed his personal commitment to advancing the ISIP project. He also expressed eagerness to visit the PT. QMB and ISIP parks in the future. Minister Rosan Roeslani further stated that the Indonesian Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry, alongside the Chairman of KIKC Pak BOY, would continue strengthening support for downstream nickel industry investments in Indonesia, driving deeper technological and industrial collaboration between the two nations to create more opportunities and foster positive development for Indonesia.
