Supply chain environmental protection
Suppliers should recognize that environmental responsibility is an important part of producing world-class products. In production and operations, adverse impacts on communities, the environment and natural resources should be minimized while protecting public health and safety. This Code has been drafted with reference to recognized management systems such as ISO14001 and Ecological Management and Audit Systems (EMAS), which can also be a useful source of additional information.

Environmental standards are:

1) Environmental permitting and reporting

All required environmental permits (such as emission monitoring), approvals and registration certificates should be obtained, maintained and updated, and their operating and reporting requirements should be followed.

2) Prevent pollution and save resources

Measures should be taken to reduce or eliminate the emission and release of pollutants and the generation of waste from the source, such as adding pollution control equipment, improving production, maintenance and facility processes, or taking other measures. Measures should be taken to manage the responsible use of natural resources, including water, fossil fuels, minerals and virgin forest wood, such as improved production, maintenance and equipment processes, the use of alternative materials, reuse, resource conservation, recycling strategies or other methods.

3) Hazardous substances

Chemicals and other materials that pose a risk to humans or the environment should be identified, labeled and managed to ensure that they are safely handled, moved, stored, used, recycled or reused and disposed of.

4) Solid waste

Suppliers shall adopt a systematic approach to identify, manage, reduce, responsibly dispose of or recycle solid waste (non-hazardous waste).

5) Exhaust gas emissions

Volatile organic chemicals, sprays, corrosive substances, suspended particles, ozone-destroying chemicals and combustion by-products generated during the production and operation process should be classified, routinely monitored, controlled and treated as required before being discharged. Suppliers should routinely monitor the operation of their air emissions control systems.

6) Material restrictions

Suppliers are expected to comply with relevant laws, regulations and customer requirements regarding the prohibition or restriction of certain substances in products and manufacturing processes, including recycling and disposal markings.

7) Water resources management

Suppliers shall implement a water management plan to record, classify and monitor water resources, their use and discharge; seek to protect water resources and control contamination channels. All wastewater must be classified, monitored, controlled and treated as required before being discharged or disposed of. Suppliers should routinely monitor the operation of their wastewater treatment and control systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance.

8) Energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions
Energy consumption and all associated Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions should be tracked and recorded at the plant and/or company level. Suppliers should explore and develop cost-effective methods to improve energy efficiency and minimize energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
